• Sole Practitioner (NOT a sole proprietorship): where a single professional engineer or professional geoscientist or licensee has an ownership position in the entity, exercises 100% control over the entity, and assumes sole responsibility for professional work done

• Operating Entity - With Services: provides professional engineering or geoscientific services as a selling feature to the consumer of a manufactured item, piece of equipment, product, or facility

Professional Liability Insurance in amounts & specifications not less than: 

• $250,000 per claim
• Either an aggregate policy for all claims of at least $500,000 per year or an automatic policy limit reinstatement feature
• Deductible amount under policy of a maximum of 10$ of the single claim limit of policy
• Liability coverage for errors, omissions and negligent acts due arising out of professional practice (this coverage is subject to exclusion, conditions and terms considered normal insurance industry practice)
• A provision that, if a party to the policy wants to cancel or amend the insurance policy such that it would conflict with the Act or Association By-laws the part must first give the other party: 
  • at least 45 dates written notice OR
  • if premiums are not paid, 15 days written notice
• Insurer MUST be licensed under The Insurance Act of Manitoba

Per The Engineering and Geoscientific Professions Act any company wishing to register a business name in Manitoba with "engineering" in their business title, shall seek approval from Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba. Please submit in writing to the Certificate of Authorization Coordinator:

• the full title of the company to be registered,
• a brief description of the types of services the company will be providing, and
• the name(s) of the professional member(s) or licensees who will be performing the services

Practising Entities & Sole Practitioners must have a professional engineer or professional geoscientist or licensee who is a full time employee or owner of the entity taking responsibility for the direct and indirect professional services
