• Professional Liability Insurance in amounts not less than $250,00 per claim and either $500,000 aggregate for all claims or $500,000 per year or an automatic policy limit reinstatement feature. 
• A maximum deductible amount under the policy of the greater of $5,000 or 5% of the annual fees the holder billed in the 12 months immediately before the issuance of the policy.
• Insurance must be placed with an insurer with an aggregate capital and surplus of at least $20,000,000 or an underwriter or syndicate of underwriters operating on the plan known as Lloyds. O. Reg. 72/89, s.2, part; O.Reg. 73/90, s.6.

If you are incorporating/registering a business name in Ontario and the corporation name/business name will have the word "engineering" or "engineers" in it, you have to ask for a Letter of Consent from PEO first.  Send an email to enforcement@peo.on.ca with the prospective name, the engineering services to be provided, the type of business entity (sole proprietorship/ partnership/corporation) and your PEO license number.  You can file your incorporation/business registration papers once you have the letter of consent, and submit your CofA application when you have your certificate of incorporation/Master Business Licence.

Firms must designate a PEO license holder who is an employee or partner in the firm to assume professional responsibility for the services provided.
